A Modern Filipino Christmas for WhiteportDecember 23, 2017
Christmas is a time to be merry, and in keeping with the season, Whiteport Inc. (WPI) as always plans its annual party with a memorable theme. For 2017, it is “Paskong Pinoy—A Night of Modern Filipino Christmas.”
The theme challenged all WPI employees to showcase their ingenuity and creativity by wearing Filipiniana attire with a contemporary or innovative twist. The party was held last December 12, 2017 at Shangri-La at the Fort, Manila in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig hosted by Engr. Jonathan Tamondong and Arnold Dacumos.
WPI chief operating officer and general manager Engr. Edimar L. Ulep welcomed everyone with a simple but heartfelt message: “Where we are today, we are so grateful to the Lord, that He is there to guide us in all our steps, direct us for the betterment of the company and for the furtherance of one another. This evening is part of our appreciation for the year that has passed. Cheers to the whole family of Whiteport!”
WPI employees were divided into five groups who competed in a talent showdown, arguably the highlight of the evening. Each group showed their prowess in Filipino-inspired dance numbers that combined tradition with modernity, in front of a panel of judges composed of Russel Flores and Joyce Dayrit from Data Land and Santiago Mersado Jr. HR and Admin Manager of DDTKI.
The competition was tough but the Davao Mindanao projects group was pronounced the winner for the group presentation, back-to-back with the Star of the Night award. Other high points of the event included an exciting raffle of prizes as well as the surprise announcement of the first recipient of the Builder of Excellence Award, also known as the Employee of the Year award. This prestigious award was given to Engr. Reynold C. Buscas, project manager of the Citadines project.
Engr. Danilo D. Tamayo, chairman and president of the DDT Group of Companies, delivered the closing remarks and set the tone of optimism and motivation in order to finish the year on a high note—indeed, an opportune time for the WPI organization to continue with its streak of success as it celebrates its 8th year of excellence in the field of construction to reach an even higher level of professional maturity and stability as a “builder with passion.”
